“Tourism in Armenia is developing dynamically! For nine months of 2017 calendar year (1,172,402) travelers visited Armenia” – informed the Head of National Committee of Tourism in Armenia, Zarmine Zeytuncyan during the meeting with journalists. “Therefore, if we compare with equivalent period of the preceding year, the number of travelers increased by 21%, noted Mrs Zeytuncyan.
“This is a good achievement for us, however, not the best, as we can welcome even larger number of tourists”.
Most of the travelers arrived from Russia, Georgia, Iran, USA and Ukraine; however, Iran is leading the list as far as percentage growth is concerned.
“We should also note that an excessive contribution to the growth of tourists to Armenia is accountable for universalization of entry visa for some country travelers, as well as modifications in boarder control policy. For instance, starting from February 2017, Russian citizens can pass the Armenia boarder with their regular passports and do not require international visa or ID”; added head of Tourism Committee.
“Obviously, we all expect more guests and tourists in 2018”. Concluded Zarmine Zeytuncyan.
