In the picturesque nature of Sisian region, 30 production groups and individuals gather to present delicious and refreshing raspberries and traditional dishes. This is the third year that World Vision Armenia has organized a Raspberry Festival.

Raspberry growing groups from Ashotavan, Hatsavan, Tasik, Toloris, Bnunis, Davit Bek and Yegheg communities participated in the previous Raspberry festival. The festival was held under the motto “People of Syunik are treating”.

The visitors had the opportunity to taste raspberries as well as many styles of raspberry cookies, cakes and marmalade. Armenian gata ,as always, was one of the most beloved treats among tourists. The raspberry growing groups also treated the visitors to juice and wine made from raspberries. Some of the groups also presented traditional crafts and handmade jewellery, as well as a variety of healthy herbs.  

According to World Vision Armenia’s Development Technical Programme Manager Husik Sargsyan, the festival is a great opportunity to promote rural economic development,- “The raspberry festival aims to support the sustainable local value chain development of raspberry in the region, as well as to support the local producers.”.

During the festival various competitions were held for both growing groups and for the participants. Young participants were given the opportunity to draw the hostess of the festival, the raspberry and to participate in the competitions organised for children. At the end of the festival the winner received a prize and a certificate.
