An ancient winery was discovered during construction works near Yeghegnadzor, a Southern Armenia regional center. This is not the first time when such discoveries are made in Vayots Dzor region.
We remember, that several years ago a similar winery was discovered near village Areni, dating about 6000 years back from nowadays. (This location is one of major touristic attractions and destinations for many of Travellika tours).
These discoveries prove us that Vayots Dzor region has been a winery center since ancient and medieval times. We proudly acknowledge that culture of wine is still developing further in the area. And certainly, we need to remember and try not to miss the famous national wine festival, held in the area every year, at the beginning of October.
