Tbilisi is a city of European and Asian heritage, the city’s history dates back to 4th century. We will drive to the old district of Tbilisi. Then drive to the small town of Manglisi (4th century). According to legend, here was kept the nail used during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Manglisi presents a favorite holiday resort because of the good geographical location and climate. We will visit the water reservoir, which is 3,7 km in length. In the event of good weather, we can swim in the river, camp there and have a picnic with barbeque. After the picnic, drive to the Tabatskuri volcanic lake. Passing Tskratskaro pass (2454m) we will drive to Bakuriani – a Georgian winter resort. Overnight in Bakuriani.
Our trip continues from Bakuriani to Vardzia. On the way, you can see picturesque nature, plenty of remarkable fortresses and towers, among them Khertvisi fortress which takes us back to the feudal era. Vardzia is the cave complex of 12-13 cc. Finally, we will drive to Akhaltsikhe, a historical castle complex of 12 cc. Overnight in Akhaltsikhe.
After breakfast, drive to mountainous Adjara region thought the Goderdzi pass. On the way you will see two bridges from the Middle Ages called Dandalo and Queen Tamar’s Bridge. Afterwards you will arrive in a village Keda and finally in Batumi — the most beautiful city in Georgia, situated at the black sea cost. Explore the famous Boulevard of Batumi with the Statue of Love — “Ali and Nino” and many other monuments. Overnight in Batumi.
After breakfast, visit Batumi Botanical Garden and Green Cape (Mtsvane Kontskhi), one of the most beautiful seaside areas in Georgia. This area is 220 meters above the sea level. The botanical garden is the home for almost 5,000 kinds of plants from all around the world. Afterwards, take a trip to Svaneti. On the way, we will visit Zugdidi museum and see the helmet of Napoleon Bonaparte. Keep driving to Svaneti along the Enguri river and Enguri Dam — the world’s second highest concrete arch dam. Overnight in Mestia.
Drive to Ushguli, one of the highest villages and a UNESCO world heritage site, located at the end of Enguri gorge 2200m above the sea level. In good weather, we can see the highest peaks: Shkara (5193 m), Ushba (4710 m) and Tetnuldi (4858 m) which are the most favorite Caucasian peaks for mountain climbers. From Tetnuldi stems the river Enguri. Overnight in Ushguli.
After breakfast, continue the journey to Kutaisi. Driving through Lentekhi along the Tskhenistskali river. Finally arrive in the second largest city of Georgia — Kutaisi. Visit Gelati monastery complex and the Bagrati cathedral which are recognized by UNESCO. Overnight in Kutaisi
After breakfast, drive to Gori, Joseph Stalin’s hometown, and visit his house-museum. Then we drive to visit the rock cut caving complex Uplistsikhe –dating from the 2nd ML BC to late middle ages. Afterwards, continue our trip to Kazbegi. On the way, visit the Ananuri castle and Jinvali water reservoir. Overnight in Kazbegi.
After breakfast, drive to the Gergeti church located at 2170 m. above the sea level. If the weather permits, we can see the second highest mountain of Georgia — Kazbegi (5047 m.). Afterwards, drive to Mtskheta UNESCO’s Heritage Site), and ancient capital of the Georgian Kingdom. Visit Jvari Monastery (6th c.); Svetitskhoveli Cathedral built in the 11th century. Drive to Tbilisi. Free lance time. Overnight in Tbilisi.
