8-day tour around Armenia is a very comprehensive time, for us to show you different and the amazing Armenia. You will walk around Yerevan, visiting the most interesting sites of our capital. We will visit diverse regions of the country, where you will see the only preserved pre-Christian era monument, a beautiful monastery, caved in the rocks of a mountain, enjoy an amazing emerald colors view of Lake Sevan, (also well-known as a pearl of Armenia), where you can taste famous Sevan craw-fish and trout. Enjoy a nice walking tour around a sunny resort Dilijan on the north of country, visit Khor Virap monastery, located at the foot of Mount Ararat, famous as a place of foundation and flourishing of Christianity in Armenia. You will also visit nations’ main Apostolic cathedral in Echmiadzin, an official residence for many and current Catholicos of all Armenians. And certainly, we would not let you miss the longest two-way cableway which takes to one of the most beautiful and mysterious temples of the ancient world, Tatev Monastery. Leaving Armenia, you will definitely carry unforgettable memories and impressions of red rocks, rising around Noravank monastery, breathtaking views of mountains and Armenian nature, and home-made wine in a small village Areni. Besides all that, there are many interesting discoveries, sites and surprises expecting you in Armenia.

Itinerary

Day 1 Yerevan

  • Arrival to Yerevan. Welcome Pick up from the Airport and Hotel Check-in.
  • City Tour around the Capital, Visiting Major Sites and Places of Interest in Yerevan.
  • Welcome Dinner. Leisure Time.

Day 2 Garni – Geghard — Amberd

  • Travel to Garni, where you will discover the only preserved Hellenistic and Pagan Temple on the territory of Armenia, Garni Temple.
  • Exactly in Garni, we will descent down the canyon and have an amazing tour around where you can witness a little wonder of a nature, so called “Stone Symphony”.
  • Dinner, with opportunity for you to participate in famous Armenian bread “Lavash” baking process. You will also have a chance to make an Armenian barbecue in “tondir’ which is a round and deep fireplace made in the grounds for baking/cooking bread and meat.
  • Following Garni, we will move forward towards Geghard monastery complex (it's another UNESCO World Heritage Architectural Site), is a unique architectural monument caved in the rocks of a mountain. The name of the complex comes from the spear that pierced Jesus Christ's body on the Cross, according to some historical sources, brought to Armenia by the apostle Thaddeus among many other relics.
  • We'll have Dinner next, after which we'll visit a VII century Amberd Castle.
  • Return to Yerevan, Leisure Time.
 

Day 3 Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni – Karahunj – Goris

  • Trip to Khor Virap Monastery, located at the bottom of Mount Ararat. The monastery is famous as a holy site, where the founder of Christianity in Armenia, Grigor Lusavorich (Gregory the Illuminator) was imprisoned for 12 years. He is considered an unofficial, first Catholicos in Armenian history.
  • Further on, our road leads to one of the most beautiful monuments of medieval Armenia, Noravank Monastery, surrounded by high, sloppy cliffs and red, rocky mountains.
  • After Noravank, Areni Village is our next stop, so called winery center of Armenia, where we will have a chance to enjoy an amazing dinner with local, true meal.
  • Up next, is a visit to a cave where recently ancient jars, vases and shoes were discovered. According to scientists, the artifacts are dating 6000 years back. Coming up is a visit to a local wine factory and taste varieties of offered wine.
  • After wine degustation, our journey continues and moves forward to the greenest town of Armenia, Goris. Short before reaching to Goris, we will make a brief stop at a place called “Zoratz Karer - Karahunj”, is a unique stone monument, prototype of Armenian Stonehenge.
  • Arrival to Goris and Overnight Stay.

Day 4 Khndzoresk – Tatev – Jermuk — Yerevan

  • After a delicious breakfast, we will head towards an old village Khndzoresk, where we will discover an amazing canyon and cross it by walk through a swinging rope-bridge. We will admire a fascinating view, experience unforgettable emotions while on the bridge and will also witness old caves inside the canyon, where people used to live yet a century ago.
  • Mowing on, we will proceed towards the most mysterious site of Armenia, Tatev village and monastery.
  • The final section of our tour to Tatev monastery will be completed on the world’s two-way longest and amazing ropeway, leading above the Vorotan canyon. The overall length of the cableway is about 6 km (4 miles) and the highest point of the ropeway is 320 meters (1050 feet) above ground.
  • Upon completion of Tatev Monastery study, site and its history, we will head toward Jermuk, a place famous for its mineral water, and you will have a chance to taste it and preserve more to use during our travel. We will also visit Jermuk canyon to admire one of the most fascinating water-fall sceneries from the depth of canyon.
  • Next up is Dinner Everyone! After which we'll Return back to Yerevan.

Day 5 Yerevan

  • Breakfast at the Hotel, after which this day will be completely dedicated to Yerevan. We will visit museum of ancient manuscripts, unique collection of treasures, Matenadaran. Following the visit, we will make an excursion to Yerevan Brandy Factory.
  • Next up is a tour to the unique carpet factory, Megerian Carpets, where we will have an amazing dinner.
  • Leisure time at night, you might prefer to enjoy jazz or have supreme wine in one of many Yerevan restaurants.

Day 6 Sevan — Dilijan – Haghartsin – Yenokavan

  • After breakfast, we will head toward the largest mountainous lake in the region, Lake Sevan. There, we will enjoy the azure colors of the lake and will study an old monastery located on the Sevan peninsula.
  • Following Sevan, we will arrive to one of the greenest towns of Armenia, famous resort Dilijan.
  • After dinner, walk around Dilijan, we will pass through the woods and will go towards a fascinating monastery complex of XI-XIII century, Haghartsin (included in the UNESCO World Heritage Architectural Sites). The place is a real pearl inside the canyon, and is one of the mysterious sites of Armenia, lost in green woods of surrounding mountains.
  • Following Haghartsin, we will visit Yenokavan. Lodging at the Hotel, dinner and leisure time.

Day 7 Lastivar — Yerevan

  • Following the breakfast, you will have an option of zip line jump tour over a canyon or horse riding among the woods and valley.
  • Walking tour along the canyon towards Lastivar caves and mountainous river to a water-fall.
  • Dinner, barbeque party with participation in a barbeque preparation process.
  • After leisure break, return walking tour to Yenokavan, climbing over the canyon.
  • Stop at the Sevan Lake on the way back to Yerevan for a dinner with an amazing, yummy Sevan fish and cray-fish.

Day 8 Echmiadzin – Zvartnots

  • Breakfast and tour to the religious capital of Armenia — Echmiadzin, where the main Cathedral of the country and the residence of Catholicos of all Armenians is located. We will visit ancient monasteries of Saint Hripsime and Saint Gayane as well, both located in Echmiadzin.
  • On the way back, we will make a stop at the ruins of ancient Zvartnots Temple, destroyed by earthquake at the end of past millennium.
  • Drop off at the airport from the Hotel with a sincere hope to see you again soon and make another fun tour around our small but full of beautiful and interesting sites of our country.

Finally, I visited the country where my grandparents were born. Yerevan is so amazing, so beautiful and full of good people. There are so many good restaurants, places to visit, museums and Matenadaran: The Home of Ancient Books, where world’s largest collection of manuscripts is located.
