Details - 4 Day Tour Around Main Wine Festive Events

Each year, in the beginning of October, when wine harvest and production is achieving to its highest point, Areni village, located in the South of Armenia, is hosting a traditional Armenian Wine Festival. We would like to invite you to this amazing event, where you will not only try all sorts of wine produced in the region, but will also participate in various national celebrations, festivities and plays. You will definitely enjoy a special concert with national folk dances during the concert, and a big variety of Armenian cuisine, offered by organizers of festival. Nevertheless, our program is not limited to wine festival celebration, it also includes 5 incredible trips to different destinations around Armenia, wonderful cuisine, and outstanding Armenian wine.

Itinerary

Day 1 Yerevan

  • Arrival to Yerevan.
  • Welcome pick up at the Airport, lodging at the Hotel.
  • A City Tour around the Capital, visiting major sites and places in interest of Armenian capital.
  • Welcome Dinner.
  • Leisure Time.

Day 2 Garni – Geghard – Lake Sevan

  • Travel to Garni, where you will discover the only preserved Hellenistic and Pagan Temple on the territory of Armenia, Garni Temple.
  • Exactly in Garni, we will descent down the canyon and have an amazing tour around, where you can witness a little wonder of a nature, so called “Stone Symphony”
  • Dinner, with opportunity for you to participate in famous Armenian bread “Lavash” baking process. You will also have a chance to make barbeque in “Tondir» which is a round and deep fireplace made in the grounds for baking/cooking bread and meat. 
  • Following Garni, we will move forward towards Geghard monastery complex (included to the UNESCO World Heritage Architectural Sites), a unique architectural monument, caved in the rocks of a mountain. The name of the complex comes from spear that pierced the body of Jesus Christ on the Cross, and according to some historical sources, brought to Armenia by the apostle Thaddeus among many other relics.
  • Heading towards Lake Sevan, arrival and review of famous Sevan Monastery, Sevanavank. Walking tour along the lake coast with a dinner.
  • Return to Yerevan. Leisure time.

Day 3 Khor Virap — Noravank — Areni

  • Trip to Khor Virap monastery, located at the bottom of Mount Ararat. The monastery is famous for its holly site, where the founder of Christianity in Armenia, Grigor Lusavorich (Gregory the Illuminator) was imprisoned for 12 years. He is considered an unofficial, first Catholicos in Armenian history.
  • Further on, our road leads to one of the most beautiful monuments of medieval Armenia, Noravank monastery, surrounded by high, sloppy cliffs, and red, rocky mountains.
  • Next stop is Areni village, so called winery center of Armenia, where on that particular day we will participate in Wine Festival.
  • During the Festival, we will enjoy an amazing special local dinner. 
  • After dinner, we will visit a cave, where recently ancient jars, vases and shoes were discovered. According to scientists, the artifacts are dating 6000 years back. Following the cave visit, we will visit a local wine factory and taste varieties of offered wines. 
  • Return to Yerevan, Leisure Time.

Day 4 Echmiadzin — Zvartnots

  • After Breakfast, tour to the religious capital of Armenia — Echmiadzin, where the main Cathedral of the country and the residence of Catholicos of all Armenians are located. We will visit ancient monasteries of Saint Hripsime and Saint Gayane as well, also located in Echmiadzin.
  • On the way back, we will make a stop at the ruins of ancient temple, Zvartnots, destroyed by earthquake at the end of past millennium.
  • Transfer to the Airport from the Hotel, with a sincere hope to see you again and make another fun & memorable tour around our small but full of beautiful and interesting sites country.
