The celebration includes concerts, performances and other festivities. Throughout the week, multiple separate events are held including participants from all across the country. Several other holidays have sprung up on the days before and after the cities birthday, leading to the week being mostly one of celebration. These later additions include the young residents holiday, the poets holiday and “Golden Autumn”.

The purpose of the holiday is to celebrate the capitol city and its incredible history as well as to bring awareness to the many unique features of Armenian culture.
