The transport infrastructure n Armenia is very well developed. Almost all available types of public transportation, except for trams, are functioning efficiently. Downtown Yerevan used to have a tram operation for some central areas of downtown, however they were replaced, to make streets wider and to meet growing transportation demands. Yerevan has a metro line with 10 stations. One way travel on metro costs 100 AMD ( about $0.20). Very convenient, fast and affordable. Working hours of Yerevan metro are: 7.00am-11pm.
The most common transportation in Yerevan though is bus, particularly, a mini-bus (10-13 person vans) that travel to all parts of the capital and even to its surrounding areas. They can remind visitor the hip on and hip off city tour buses, however, one has to pay the fare of AMD 100 ($0.21) every time, getting on it. The work hours for mini buses are: 7.00am-12pm, though some lines have late night or early morning operations as well.
Big buses operate for most capital connections and lines and still use the same mini-bus stations, they all cost AMD 10o $0.21 per one way ride and work at the same schedule: 7.00am-12pm.
Taxi service in Armenia and particularly in Yerevan is very affordable and easily available One can always order taxi from major providers, online (like Uber or Lift in the USA) or just reach out to one at the main city hub areas; (main intersections, squares, stations). Bear in mind that part of the taxi service providers are personal, not registered, and they are considered lower cost. However, their service is not always the best and reliable. Therefore, we would recommend you use official service taxis, identifying them with titles or company tags, and checking prior with hotel or guide/s. There is also a minimum (reserve) price for each tax service, once you claim for a ride, it is (AMD 600) with about 3-4 km ride (2-2.5) miles.
Main transport types connecting Yerevan with other cities or towns are buses, both mini and large ones) They depart from several city hubs and don’t operate at night time. For travelling to Yerevan surrounding areas, taxi would still be most convenient method, with its affordability and wide availability.
Some central transportation hub/station locations in Yerevan are.
1. Central (Kilikia) bus-station
2. Northern bus-stations (Arabkir)
3. Intertown bus-station near the central railway station “Sasuntsi David” and identically named square
